In the last blog, we focused in one of the many trends of the swimwear world, the cutaway swimsuit. Now, we are going to talk about the retro swimwear look. While this one is not as popular as the cutaway swimwear trend, slowly but surely, you will begin to see this very vintage look peek in and soon enough, everyone at the beach will be in swimwear form the fifties and sixties and for our parents, I’m sure, it will be quite the flashback.

However, I am not just talking about vintage swimwear; I am talking about this particular halter-top swimsuit. This beautiful nautical swimsuit is not only the cutest thing I think that I have ever seen, but if you look at the back – it is actually a couple different pieces, which make it all the better!

Asha Couture Swimwear 2008

Today we’re focussing on a swimwear label that’s a little bit more on the classic end of the spectrum; Asha Couture Swimwear (also known as Asha DeMarco swimwear, after the designer). The label’s target audience is not the 16-year old cheerleader, but the sexy (and successful) 30-something woman that knows what she wants, and knows she looks great. The bikinis are sexy, but without ever turning ‘cheap’ in any way – the swimsuits are pure class, and the tunics are perfect for beach walks in any 5-star resort…

2008 Bikini Trends

I realise a lot of people don’t buy in to the whole trends in swimwear thing. I can see why too — a bikini is ‘only a bikini’ to a lot of people, and it all boils down to whether or not you feel like a bikini is just “something to cover up my ass and breasts” or a fashion choice.

I obviously think it’s a fashion choice, so trends apply.

My personal view on the real trends for 2008 bikinis:

High-waist
Retro
Sequins
Chocolate colors / Charcoal
Sexy
Bandeau-style cups (yet not so much the real bandeaus)
Metal accents

I’m always right — so keep these in mind when shopping!

New Jane Pain Swimwear for 2008!

I’ve always been a fan of Jane Pain, seeing as designer Patricia Salinas always is one to try new things, and think outside of the box. Well, the 2008 beachwear collection of this Argentinian brand shows once more why I’m always right: unusual fabrics, unusual designs, unusual color combinations — resulting in absolutely breathtaking beachwear for a woman that has enough confidence to be herself.

I can’t see myself wearing the open-bust swimsuit — but some of these other pieces are just too yummy to pass out on. Decadent!

Lisa Curran Swimwear

This line is fabulous. The suits are all beautifully designed, and I absolutely love the use of chains and gold rings in the bikinis. The colors in this line are great as well. From the floral prints to the solids, everything is wonderful. There are one-pieces, but I really like the look of the bikinis, so I used pictures of those. You can check out the Lisa Curran site for the one-pieces, which are all beautiful as well. My favorite is the chains halter and bikini bottom. Very elegant and yet very sexy. Itâ€™s the first picture, be sure to check it out.

Blugirl Spring/Summer 2008 Swimsuit Collection

I love it! Blugirl has brought back the femininity of the 1950â€™s in this line. All the suits look like something that you would have seen Marilyn Monroe or Elizabeth Taylor in years ago. They are still sexy, but with a more elegant and sophisticated appeal. I love the coloring, and the cuts are brilliant. The belted look on swimsuits is great, and even the shoes in this collection are adorable. Just looking at these suits makes me want to go and bake something. It just goes to show that you donâ€™t have to show a lot of skin to be sexy. Sometimes being classy and elegant is sexy, and that is just what Blugirl has put into this swimwear line.

Miss Bikini 2008 Milan Catwalk

The ever popular Naomi Campbell led the way down theÂ runway during the Milan fashion week, sporting a very bold and barely there creation by Miss Bikini. All the suits in the Spring/Summer 2008 line were barely there. This is a limited edition collection of bikinis, as well as cocktail dresses, created by the design team of Alessandra and Francesca Piancentini for the Fashion For Relief Association, which is a charitable organization that Naomi Campbell founded in 2005. The Organizations benefits this year will be given to flood victims in the UK.

Red Carter Swimsuit Line for 2008

Okay, now I really like the new Red Carter swimsuits. For one thing, there are menâ€™s suits, and we ladies have to keep our men looking good at the beach too, right? Anyway, the colors are bold and gorgeous, and I love the styles, especially the one-pieces. Belts, even though you wouldnâ€™t think youâ€™d need one with a swimsuit, look really good on these designs. I love the cuts of the one-pieces too. Overall, the whole collection looks good. I canâ€™t wait until Summer.

True Religion 2008 Spring Swimsuits

Skimpy. Thatâ€™s the word that came to mind when I saw the new Spring 2008 True Religion lineup. Now, donâ€™t get me wrong, they are beautiful bikinis, but they are really skimpy. Of course, some people like skimpy, right guys? Anyway, I do love the colors, and the models in the sunglasses and that long hair, put me right in the mind of Woodstock. Judge for yourself, here are the pictures. I do like the cut and patterns of the pieces, I just prefer a little more cover J

Asha Couture Dr. No Signature Suit

This is a beautiful suit from Asha Couture. Itâ€™s very reminiscent of 007, and fittingly named the Dr. No Suit. The Halter top is supportive and adds shape, and itâ€™s fully lined. It has side stays to keep everything in perspective and ties at the neck and back. The bottom has a stunning 2 inch belt with a buckle and grommets. It has moderate coverage and is also fully lined. This is a great suit, and the coral color is gorgeous. It also comes in black, white, chocolate, and azule. You can get the top for $62 and the bottom for $85 at Swimwear Boutique.
