Board shorts are a great option in plus size swimwear, especially if you are going for a more casual look. There is most definitely a reason for this. Look up this topic anywhere else on the internet, and you will see it said that from the time women, especially fuller figured women, are young, it is very clear to us that swimsuits are the enemy because they leave us so exposed. Try them on when they arrive and pick the one — or more than one — that you like best, that flatters you, that makes you feel like a summer goddess. Send the rest back — meaning, of course, you also need to shop from catalogs with good return policies. Also, make sure you keep your panties on while you are trying on the suits!

There are a number of reasons why looking for full figured and/or plus sized swimsuits. For one thing, is it just me, or does it seem like the overwhelming, distressing majority of swimwear designers out there are sadists? It is like they are sending out a message that not only do the girls on the runway have to be a size two, but so do any of the women who wear their pieces. If you are curvy, if you are carrying around some extra pounds, if you are overweight, you want to go out feeling confident and beautiful. It is hard to believe that only back in the 1800s, even at the turn of the century, women did not wear bathing suits. They wore bathing dresses, garments that covered them right down to the ankles. All things considered, we fuller figured women may sometimes find ourselves wishing that this particular style was still a hot trend, or at least that it would come back into fashion.

It seems like those of us in need of plus size swimwear spend more time and money picking out cover ups, wraps, and summer tunics to cover up our bodies than we do on bathing suits to show them off. But why should we feel ashamed?

Curves are beautiful. I am not touting obesity, you need to be fit and healthy, but if you are still full figured for all of that, you should not feel ashamed and you should not let anyone else make you feel that way either.

There is no need because, as you will see, you can find a flattering suit that will make you feel beautiful, sexy, and fashionable.

It really seems like not a lot of swimsuit designers take pains to consider the importance of body control. Goodness knows it is a crucial issue for many of us women as we are picking out new swimsuits for that one season when it is perfectly acceptable to bare as much as you want to bare. Fortunately, Charmline does consider body control – so much so that it is an entire line: Charmline Body Control 2009.

Of course, with some body control collections, it seems like the suits are rather … well. Not so pretty. Fortunately Charmline makes it completely fashionable, as with this suit, titled Eden Roc. It is a V Neck Tank suit with pleating along the bodice that features small rings as adornments. It has a supportive shelf bra, plenty of coverage in the back, and is made of forty one percent of Elastane, a must have in body shaping.

I have never been one that believed in larger ladies wearing bikinis. Although, it is true the expression “to each her own”, I have always thought that bigger sized ladies could make themselves look more attractive showing off their assets, by wearing elegant one piecers, stylish two piece tankinis and gorgeous swim dresses. Thus, when I hear the term “plus size bikinis”, it makes me get the jitters because the term normally comes from people who do not understand plus sizes and looking good. But today, I found a company that offers fabulous bikinis in up to size 2X with triple D cups.

Laguna Fitness, from California USA, specializes in designer swimwear and sexy dresses. Their 2008 collection is now available and it includes bikinis, one piece suits, cover-ups, sarongs, mini skirts and dresses. When I clicked on the plus size page, I was excited to find real plus size bikinis. There is no doubt that these bikinis are as sexy as they come for larger ladies.

My favourite was the elegant and classy Black and White Calypso with full coverage bra, solid wide straps and completely sexy but ample coverage bottoms. To make it easier for choosing the correct size, the customer may choose different sizes for both the top and bottoms. While I would love to wear any of the bathing suits I found in this section, my second favourite was the “Hula Hoop Underwire”, a pretty 50s inspired top with matching skirt. The design was perfect for summer and the little yellow lace around the tops of the breasts was so cute.

Laguna Fitness also offers some very sexy one piece suits that cover just the right amount of skin and at the same time are revealing in some spots. All of the suits are made from materials and designs to slim down the appearance of the body. And all are priced in relation to other excellent brands of plus size swimwear.

Indeed in my book, Laguna Fitness may say that they sell plus size bikinis. My only regret is that the company does not show the suits on plus size models.

Dreaming Goddess Hand Painted Sarongs

When sarongs first hit the fashion scene about eight years I told my family, that I would like a pretty sarong for my Christmas present so that I could cover up but still look like I belonged on the beach. I received two gorgeous sarongs but back then the style barely covered my hips.

Taking a look around the internet today, there are so many widths, lengths and colours that, apparently, they are not only being worn as beach cover-ups but they are also being worn by women as skirts, dresses and formal wear.

I found a website with hand-painted sarongs and I fell in love with the beauty of the designs. The artist is Jasmine Sky from Florida and I must say her selling point for me was the fact that her sarongs were larger than most. She also customizes the size for bigger ladies so that everyone might enjoy her lovely pieces of brilliant workmanship.
