Maaji Swimwear for 2009 usually hits the nail on the head. The pieces are original and unique yet unquestionably trendy, the designs are edgy, the juxtaposition is flawless, and the color palettes are to die for. And then you have the Moonlight Glamour Metallic One Piece, a rare miss for the innovative designer.
In theory, this is a great piece — in theory. The top part of the one piece suit, for instance, is gorgeous. It is extremely eye flattering, and the cut of the garment — again, we are just talking about the upper portion here — is incredibly flattering. I can’t say that the patterned print should have continued throughout the suit; I can see what the designer was probably thinking, it would have been too much.
All I can say, though, is that something besides this bright, silver metallic should have been chosen instead. Usually metallic swimsuits are cool, but this … no. Perhaps if the positions had been switched, if it was a solid metallic up top and a print at the bottom, but as is, that silver fabric is just highly unflattering. If it makes even this skinny model look hippy and almost like she is expecting, what is it going to do for us regular women?
