When sarongs first hit the fashion scene about eight years I told my family, that I would like a pretty sarong for my Christmas present so that I could cover up but still look like I belonged on the beach. I received two gorgeous sarongs but back then the style barely covered my hips.
Taking a look around the internet today, there are so many widths, lengths and colours that, apparently, they are not only being worn as beach cover-ups but they are also being worn by women as skirts, dresses and formal wear.
I found a website with hand-painted sarongs and I fell in love with the beauty of the designs. The artist is Jasmine Sky from Florida and I must say her selling point for me was the fact that her sarongs were larger than most. She also customizes the size for bigger ladies so that everyone might enjoy her lovely pieces of brilliant workmanship.
Not only does she design and hand paint these silk creations, she also explains how to tie the sarong and provides alternative suggestions for their uses. My husband and I may have to take a day trip to Florida to see these treasures in person. Online info? thedreaminggoddess.com!
